Renowned golfer Greg Norman has decided to cease efforts to sell his extensive 26,000 square foot residence on Jupiter Island and has opted for its demolition instead. This decision follows years of seeking a purchaser for the tropical retreat, during which the asking price was reduced from $65,000,000 to $55,000,000. On July 21, 2018, Norman shared an image of the demolition on his social media platforms with the message: “Here one moment, gone the next. The primary house has stood magnificently since 1902, with several additions made since I acquired this splendid property in 1991 on Jupiter Island. It was time to remove the old and introduce the new, which we expect to have finalized by the end of 2019.” He acquired the vast 8-acre estate spanning from ocean to intracoastal in 1991 for only $4,900,000. Previously named Tranquility, the property featured one of the oldest residences on Jupiter Island, constructed in 1902 and refurbished over the years. An aerial photograph below indicates the 26,000 square foot main house had been updated as recently as 2009. Additionally, the estate provided 172 feet of oceanfront, parking space for 14 cars, a coach house, carriage house, and a delightful beach house facing the ocean. In total, the estate comprised 10 bedrooms, 14 full bathrooms, and 3 half bathrooms. The resort-style grounds boasted a professional tennis court and pavilion, skate park, 165-foot deepwater dock, resort-like swimming pool area with Polynesian-style barbecue house, and, of course, a putting green. Greg Norman is reportedly valued at approximately $300,000,000.
